TEACHING HOW TO UNITE SCRIPTURE PR 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. For every one that useth milk [is] unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. ISA 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? [them that are] weaned from the milk, [and] drawn from the breasts. ISA 28:10 For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little: KNOWLEDGE 2PE 2:18 For when they speak great swelling [words] of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, [through much] wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 2PE 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 2PE 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. PR 19:2 Also, [that] the soul [be] without knowledge, [it is] not good; and he that hasteth with [his] feet sinneth. That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; <1CO15 -:34 > Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak [this] to your shame. 2PE 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. SOUND DOCTRINE HO 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine [shewing] uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, HOLINESS Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. OUTLINES STICKING TO THE WORD OF GOD Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. <1CO2 -:9 > But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. <1CO2 -:10 > But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. <1CO2 -:11 > For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. <1CO2 -:12 > Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. <1CO2 -:13 > Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. <1CO2 -:14 > But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster [to bring us] unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. THE MAN OF GOD PREPARING FOR THE WORK OF GOD <2TI2 -:15 > Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. <2TI2 -:16 > But shun profane [and] vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. ISA 28:26 For his God doth instruct him to discretion, [and] doth teach him. LU 12:12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say. JOH 14:26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. PERFECT MEANS MATURE, ADULT Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; <1TI1 -:6 > From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; <1TI1 -:7 > Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which [be] the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. <2TI3 -:16 > All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: <2TI3 -:17 > That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
